About Us
THE FOUNDATION FOR WOMEN'S CANCER
Headquartered in Chicago, the Foundation for Women's cancer (formerly the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation) was established in 1991 by the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists (SGO) to promote public awareness of gynecologic cancers, and to educate women about prevention, early detection and post-diagnosis treatments.
The Foundation also supports crucial research about cancers unique to women. Every seven minutes, a woman hears a diagnosis of a gynecologic cancer, touching more than 78,000 women in the US each year.
SUPPORT AND COMMUNITIY PARTICIPATION
As a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization, the Foundation for Women's Cancer solicits support and community participation to further reduce the risk of gynecologic cancers. Among their many awareness programs, the Foundation will hold its second National Race to End Women's Cancer in the streets of Washington, DC on Sunday, November 6, 2011.
The only national organization dedicated to the eradication of all reproductive cancers, the Foundation for Women's Cancer fosters new knowledge through the annual funding of research grants. Since 1995, the Foundation has provided more than $5 million in research funding earning recognition from Worth Magazineas one of the nation's 100 best charities.
