About GCF
THE GYNECOLOGIC CANCER FOUNDATION
Headquartered in Chicago, the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation was established in 1991 by the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists (SGO)
to promote public awareness of gynecologic
cancers, educate women about prevention,
early detection and post-diagnosis treatments.
The GCF further supports research linked to gynecologic cancers, such as ovarian cancer. Over 78,000 women receive a diagnosis of a gynecologic cancer each year.
SUPPORT AND COMMUNITIY PARTICIPATION
As a 501(C)(3), the GCF solicits support and community participation to further reduce the risk of gynecologic cancers. Among their many awareness programs, the GCF has established its Inaugural Half Marathon/5K in the streets of Washington, D.C. on Sunday, November 8, 2009.
The only national organization dedicated to the eradication of all gynecologic cancers, GCF
fosters new knowledge through the annual funding of research grants. Since 1995, the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation has provided more than $5 million in research funding earning recognition from Worth Magazine as one of the nation’s hundred best charities.
