Race Route/Road Closures

Due to recent increased security concerns in our nation's capital, DC Police have required us to change the National Race to End Women's Cancer from a 10K course to an 8K course, with a 1-mile fun run option. The race begins and ends at Freedom Plaza, Pennsylvania Avenue and 14th Street, in Washington, DC. The course winds through the streets of DC, bringing runners past the US Capitol and in view of the Smithsonian Museums, Washington Monument and many other national landmarks.
Getting There: Due to planned demonstrations around the White House and possibly Freedom Plaza on race day, we strongly recommend using public transportation (Metro trains or buses). The nearest Metro stations are Metro Center (Red, Orange and Blue lines) and Federal Triangle (Orange and Blue lines). In addition to the race route, streets around the White House (14th Streets through 17th Streets, NW) will be closed, and parking will be extremely limited.

The race begins promptly at 9:00 a.m., with music and a warm welcome beforehand by Foundation and race leaders, Survivor Committee Chair Jennie McGihon, and a warmup on the plaza by race trainer Ginny Wright. See you in DC!
